Notes on HPV Vaccines (Gardasil, Silgard)

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a common virus that attaches itself to all parts of the body. Invading from small cuts in the skin and mucous membranes, anyone can be infected. Long-term infection with HPV makes you more likely to develop cancer.

<Vaccines Overview>
●Gardasil 4-valent:
Protects against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18.
●Gardasil 9-valent:
Provides broad protection against HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.
●Silgard 9-valent:
Provides broad protection against HPV types 6, 11, 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58.

<Preventive effects>
Female: cervical cancer, vulvar cancer, vaginal cancer.
Male: penile cancer.
Both: anal cancer, pharyngeal cancer, warts.

<Intervaccination interval>
Initial vaccination (first), two months after initial vaccination (second), six months after initial vaccination (third). [Intramuscular injection]

<Notice after Vaccination>
1. We should not massage the vaccination site.
2. It is not a problem to bathe on the day of vaccination.
3. We should not exercise or drink excessively on the day of vaccination.
4. Redness, swelling, or pain at the site of inoculation may occur, but it usually heals within a few days.
5. After vaccination, due to the allergic reaction and stimulation of tension or pain, the vagal reflexes are increased, and serious reactions such as dizziness or even loss of consciousness may occur.
6. We should not massage the site of vaccination. The vaccine may cause severe reactions such as dizziness or even loss of consciousness. Therefore, do not go home immediately, but stay near our clinic for 30 minutes for observation. If there is any change in your health condition, please return to our hospital immediately.6. Please consult us if you have any symptoms of side effects.
7. Because the vaccine does not prevent cervical cancer 100 percent of the time. So even if you have been vaccinated, it is important to have regular gynecological screening for cervical cancer on a universal basis.
